The Fight Against
Fakes
At Watchfinder we are committed to eliminating fake watches.
With over 40 million increasingly convincing counterfeit watches being sold each year, this is how we are fighting back..
How our experts keep fakes at bay
With continued advancements in technology, the quality of fake watches is getting better and better.
Real v fake
For example, the watches here seem identical, but one is real and the other is fake.
To the untrained eye, distinguishing a counterfeit watch from a real one can prove a tricky task. However, to a qualified expert, like those in our service centre, there are some tell-tale signs to lookout for. Here are some of them.
Our watchmakers take each watch through a rigorous 60 stage authentication process ensuring each watch we sell is guaranteed to be genuine.

The watches here seem identical but one is real and one is fake. Would you be able to tell the difference?
Counterfeiters are making watches that are almost indistinguishable from the real thing, making them impossible to detect with the naked eye.

Our 60-step process
Watchfinder inspects and authenticates every single watch as standard. Find out more about our meticulous 60-step process below.
Provenance and Authenticity
First, we check international databases to confirm provenance and authenticity
Inspection of Aesthetics and Functionality
Then, we undertake an initial inspection of aesthetics and functionality
Disassembly
If required, a watch is stripped to its component parts for a full overhaul
Watchmaking
Our highly trained watchmakers are manufacture certified to undertake this incredibly difficult task
Cleaning and Refurbishment
Once disassembled, the watch is thoroughly cleaned and refurbished, and parts replaced with manufacturer originals if needed, to bring the watch back to peak performance
Reassembly and Quality Control
The watch is then reassembled and thoroughly tested and inspected to ensure it’s ready for sale.
